How Photoclass works

Weekly lessons
New lessons publish every week across two cohorts a year. Each of the ten units covers one core skill, like exposure, composition, or post-processing, building on the last.
Real assignments
Every unit includes a shooting assignment. You apply what you just learned to real photos, building a portfolio over the course of the class.
Mentor feedback
Post your assignments and get feedback from mentors and other students on what's working and what to try next.
Community
Students join an active Discord and subreddit that runs all year, on top of the cohort. It's where people share work, ask questions, and keep each other accountable.
Course units · Photoclass 2026

Photoclass runs twice a year, completely free, with photographers from all over the world.

NomadCam
One camera, shared between photographers
NomadCam is a shared camera moving through the Focal Point community. Each person keeps it for about a week, takes as many photos as they want, then passes it to the next photographer.

Taking part just means making photos while the camera is with you, then handing it to the next photographer when your turn is up. Over time, the whole community ends up represented in one shared camera roll.

Photos are tagged with wherever they were shot and show up in the gallery in the order they're added. The camera started moving on August 3, 2026, and the gallery fills in as more photographers get it.

Week 37
Goodbye, for now

Rinko Kawauchi
Photographs ordinary moments as though life and death belong in the same frame, letting change sit in the picture without explaining what it means.
