With this assignment, you will…
Begin shaping your long-term project through brainstorming, planning, and experimentation.
Create and share one photo that reflects your early ideas or simply keeps your creative momentum going.
Reflect on your planning process and identify what kind of feedback you need at this stage.
Share your working documents if you’d like (mind maps, sketches, outlines, etc.).
Planning and Starting Your Project
It’s time to start laying the foundation for your final project. Your plan doesn’t need to be final or complete—it can shift and evolve. Try using mind maps, notes, sketches, or storyboards to get your ideas out of your head and into a shareable format.
If you’ve already committed to a direction, great. If not, use this assignment as a chance to test out an idea or build toward one.
Instructions
Step One: Make a Photo
Create one image based on your initial ideas or just to keep yourself shooting. The photo doesn’t have to match your project theme yet, but if it does, even better. The point is to stay connected to your practice while your concept develops.
Step Two: Reflect and Share
With your photo, include a short reflection that addresses:
What stage you’re at in your planning process
Any visual or thematic ideas you’re excited about
How your photo relates to your project idea (or doesn’t!)
What kind of feedback would be helpful right now (idea development, style, composition, etc.)
You’re welcome (but not required) to include your brainstorm notes, mind maps, or storyboards with your submission.
tl;dr: What to Hand In
One final image made with a long-term project in mind.
A reflection addressing the above questions.
Bonus: Any branstorming tools you implemented.
We are having regular events on the discord. Check there for the next feedback session and other workshops!
Don’t forget to write in your Learning Journals!
