Go Further

This assignment is about turning everything you’ve learned into momentum. You’ll take a look at how far you’ve come, set a clear direction for what you want next, and create one image that feels like a personal milestone. The goal is to keep going with intention.

Instructions

Step One: Reflect on your Progress

Look back through your work from this course. Pull 5–8 images that show something meaningful to you. This could be a shift in style, a subject that keeps coming up, or just photos that felt important to take. Don’t worry about perfection. Just choose what feels like your voice.

In your Learning Journal or in Discord, answer the following:

  • What have you learned about how you see?

  • What patterns or themes are showing up?

  • Where do you feel most proud of your growth?

Step Two: Define a Personal Challenge

Think about what would push you forward. That might be trying a new genre, creating a short series, shooting in low light, or limiting yourself to one lens for a week.

Write it out like a photo brief:

• What do you want to try?

• What are the boundaries or constraints?

• How will you know it was a success?

Then go shoot one image based on your challenge.

Step Three: Create a Final Image with Direction

Now bring it together. Create one final image that connects what you’ve learned with where you want to go. This image should say something about your next phase—what you want to keep exploring, developing, or refining.

In your reflection, explain how this image builds on your earlier work and points you forward.

tl;dr: What to Hand In

  1. 5–8 meaningful images from your past work

  2. Your personal challenge (photo brief)

  3. One new image based on that challenge

  4. A short reflection on your process and what you learned

  5. Your submission posted in Discord for feedback

We are having regular events on the discord. Check there for the next feedback session and other workshops!

Don’t forget to write in your Learning Journals!
